eastern water dragon lizard

Eastern water dragon IMG 9090 - As its name implies, this Australian lizard is associated with water. It is often seen on the banks of waterways, where it leaps out of hiding at the first hint of danger and runs across the water at a dazzling speed until eventually vanishing beneath the surface. This juvenile lizard was photographed in the wild on the banks of the Mary River near the Queensland city of Maryborough.
