friarbird with nesting material

noisy friarbird, Philemon corniculatus collecting nesting material

Noisy friarbird, Philemon corniculatus, with nesting material IMG 6529 - With incessant squawks and screeches, noisy friarbirds live up to their name, and things get even rowdier when nesting time arrives. This bird was ripping long pieces of soft bark form the trunk of a native Melaleuca tree, in the photographer's garden, to use in the construction of its nest that is held together with the silk from spiders' webs.
