Eastern yellow robin

eastern yellow robin

Eastern yellow robin, Eopsaltria australis, IMG 5245 - Eopsaltria, the name of the genus to which this colourful bird belongs, is an ancient word that means ‘singer of the dawn’, and it’s an appropriate description, for in the forests and woodlands that it inhabits, the eastern yellow robin is invariably the first bird to welcome each new day. It begins its repetitive and monotonous song, a series of five or six high pitched beeps, often well before the sun has tossed its first rays of light across the horizon, and it’s impossible to ignore Mother Nature’s most reliable alarm clock.
