White-faced heron

white faced heron

White-faced heron, Egretta novaehollandiae, IMG 5592 - The aptly named white-faced heron is the most common heron in Australia and can be seen in all regions of the continent, other than the most arid parts of the outback. Wherever there’s water there’s a good chance that the white-faced heron won’t be far away, for it makes itself at home in a wide range of habitats, and can often be seen strolling across tidal mudflats and beaches and wading through the shallow waters that hem river estuaries.
