blue faced honeyeater

blue-faced honeyeater feeding on red flower

Blue faced honeyeater Entomyzon cyanotis IMG 6410 - It's easy to see how this bird acquired its common name, and its vivid blue face patch makes it very easy to identify. This bird was feeding on the bright red nectar-laden flowers of an Australian native bottlebrush tree, Callistemon citrinus, in the Tondoon Botanic Gardens in the Queensland city of Gladstone.
