Solanum petrophilum

solanum petrophilum wildflowers, rock nightshade flwoers in outback australia

Solanum petrophilum IMG 7586 - This plant is closely related to tomatoes, capsicums, and potatoes but produces no edible fruit, and although its flowers are attractive, its leaf stems, with their savage spines, are a less appealing part of this Australian native plant that is often referred to as 'Rock Nightshade'. This plant was photographed in the Flinders Ranges in outback / northern South Australia.
