The Darling River that slices through the Australian outback was once one of
Australia's greatest waterways, but
today, thanks to drought and the extensive use of its waters for the irrigation
of orchards of citrus trees, vast fields of cotton,
and vineyards, it has been reduced to a feeble stream. This scene was shot near
the New South Wales town of Wilcannia,
where the majority of the population are Australian aboriginal people.
