The sleepy coastal town of Yamba, in northern New South Wales, with the Pacific
Ocean lapping at its doorstep, is
surrounded by picturesque landscapes. Beaches
and secluded bays are nearby, but it is the Clarence River that is the main
reason for the town's existence, and its
continuing prosperity and popularity as a tourist destination. The river offers a calm port for a fleet of fishing
boats, and visitors flock to the area to surf
and swim in the sea, to fish in both the ocean and the wide river, and to
explore the nearby national park.
