Wallis Lake at Tuncurry IMG 9603 - The coastal city of Tuncurry has a vast aquatic playground on its doorstep. It sits on the northern bank of Wallis Lake, near where this vast expanse of water meets the Pacific Ocean, and is a popular holiday destination for tourists who come to relax on the region's extensive beaches, to fish in the calm blue waters of the lake, to potter around in a boat, or simply to take it easy at this coastal paradise. The two distinctive colours in the water clearly define the shallow central section of the lake with its white sandy bottom, and the deeper channel along which boats come and go, including tour boats that carry travellers out to the sea to watch the comings and goings of dolphins and hump backed whales. Wallis Lake is part of the extensive Myall Lakes system that is at the heart of the Great Lakes region of NSW.
