Aeonium arboreum

aeonium arboreum, succulent plant with cluster of yellow flowers, a weed on coastal hillside on yorke peninsual south australia

Aeonium arboreum IMG 8120 - This drought tolerant succulent plant, with its large conical clusters of vivid yellow flowers, is a useful species in gardens in areas of low rainfall, but in other situations it's far from welcome. On this section of the South Australian coast, near the small seaside town of Port Victoria on the Yorke Peninsula, this plant, commonly known as 'houseleek', has become an invasive weed species, probably after having been thoughtlessly tossed onto the hillside by the owner of a nearby property.
