Australian flower wasp on rose bud IMG 6131 - This wasp might appear dangerous, and it is - but only to other insects. To gardeners it is a welcome and valued ally in the ongoing battle to control insect pests, for this parasitic species lays its eggs in the bodies of other insects, and when the larvae hatch, they destroy their host by feeding on it.
