The landscape near the tiny village of Emmaville, which lies to the north of
Glen Innes, was once an ugly sight thanks to the impact of tin mining in the
19th century. Time and Nature have healed the scars however, and today the
reservoir that provided water for mining has been transformed into a place of
scenic beauty that has become a habitat for large numbers of native birds.
