Superb fairy-wren on book IMG 9499 - This
species of Australian birds is commonly referred to simply as a 'blue
wren'. Only breeding males and those more than four years of age have the blue
plumage however, and for much of the year their feathers are a dull brown colour
like those of the females. This image was captured at the Wallingat National
Park, in the Myall Lakes region of NSW, when this inquisitive bird hopped into
the photographer's tent in search of crumbs.
