D551E    Hand made millet brooms are produced as they have been for more than 50 years in the broom factory at Tumut, a town in the Snowy Mountains region of NSW, Australia. The factory can be visited by tourists, free of charge, and although this might initially seem to be a less than appealing way to spend more than a second of a holiday, most people who drop in for a look are pleasantly surprised to find the process far more fascinating than they had imagined. Sadly, competition from similar products made in China and flooding the market at low prices has had a negative impact on the business - as it has on small commercial operations of many kinds around the world, but Tumut brooms are of far superior quality and are better value for money - according to the chief broom maker at the Tumut factory.
