F444E Sunset over the
calm water of Lake Pamamaroo, near the Australian outback town of Menindee,
NSW. This man-made lake was created for the storage of water from the
nearby Darling River. The water is used primarily for the irrigation of
extensive fields of cotton that are grown in the region. The lake is home to
many thousands of waterbirds, and tourists and fishermen flock to the region too
to make good use of this vast expanse of water that lies at the heart of an otherwise arid
landscape.
