Murray Sunset National Park

pink lake crozier at murray sunset national park, outback victoria australia

Pink lake in Murray Sunset National Park IMG 1206B - Lake Crozier, in the heart of the Murray Sunset National Park, is a vast salt lake that, at certain of the year, takes on a vivid pink hue due to the presence of algae. Commercial quantities of salt were once extracted from the lake, and the decaying timbers in the foreground of this image are the remains of a boardwalk that allowed 'miners' to access the lake's thick layers of salt. Today, silence routinely envelopes the landscape, for the only human activity here is the coming and going of the smattering of tourists who visit this unique and beautiful park in outback Victoria.
