Blue faced honeyeaters, with their distinctive brightly coloured face patches,
are birds that are easily recognisable. In
the wild, these Australian birds feed on the nectar of flowers produced by
native and exotic trees and shrubs. But their
attraction to anything sweet sees them, in some locations, become regular
patrons at outdoor cafes where they help themselves
to anything that contains sugar. Leave a scone with jam and cream unattended,
and they will soon find it. And the
more determined and audacious will even lift the lid on a sugar bowl and tuck
into its contents.
