D672E   Birds seem to vanish during heavy rain, and usually reappear from the shelter of the forest or bushland with their plumage  dry and as neat as ever. This Australian kookaburra, a member of the kingfisher family of birds, emerged from the shelter of the Jimna State Forest,  in Queensland, Australia, in a sorry state after a summer storm.
