Rainbow lorikeet Trichoglossus haematodus IMG 166 - Rainbow lorikeets are among the most colourful of the many species of Australian parrots. The bird seen here was photographed in the wild when it landed on a picnic table in a national park where the photographer was putting in some serious time on a travel article she was writing. The unexpected company of such a glamorous creature made the effort of concentrating on work more difficult than usual.
